  • 2020 East Coast NROA Rally - Virginia Beach

    Good morning folks!
Well MaryAnne and I met with the campground owner yesterday and locked in a date for the 2020 East Coast Rally. We will be working with them on the details after the 4th is behind them.
This campground usually has a lot of fun activities going on. They even have a free beach access parking lot just a short walk to the ocean.
We believe that everyone will enjoy this area! It is rich in history, sightseeing, museums, shopping and entertainment. Plenty to do that will suit any interest.
We will work hard to provide as much information as possible on the opportunities so you can enjoy it to the fullest!

Will keep the info flowing as things develop. Will send out a mass email as well to the list we received.
Need to find out how to make 2020 East Coast Rally a 'sticky' then make sure that everyone is aware of it.
Keep your eyes open and then make sure your friends know!

So mark your calendars and plan on having some fun and fellowship!

Soooo we stayed in this campground for 8 days in October.
Nice place and not many people expect on the weekend.
We was at site 260 and everything west of us ( ie; 4xx 5xx ) nobody was in the entire time.
          Beach parking was great.
Gas golf carts are not allowed but that didn't stop one person from putting to loud of a stereo on his electric one.

Naval Air Station Oceana is basically right next door and some jets shook the trailer but a LOT less noise for the weekend.
Not sure how you can tell what is going on at the airbase or if it is going to really matter for that short of a time.

                  Good day folks!

HERE WE GO!!! May 13-17 2020

We finally got to meet with the campground owners again to finalize the accommodation details.
At this point we have 47 W/E/S 30/50 amp sites reserved in a location surrounding our Rally meeting tent. Be optimistic, right? We can get more
                  J

Campground site reservations and site payment will be handled by the campground.

For the ease of recognition by their staff they are going to reference our event as the ‘East Coast Northwood Rally’. You must use this name along with the reservation number 32086762 to book your site in the group area and receive our rate of $42.64 total per night ($44 -15% discount + tax).
The registration cutoff date is March 1 2020. At that time the campground opens up the reserved sites and the group rate is no longer offered.

The rate will cover 2 adults, 4 children on a campsite. The rate will be available starting Sunday May 10 for those that wish to arrive early and good until Tuesday night May 19 if anyone wishes to stay after the event.
There will be golf cart rentals available from the campground. You can reserve them at time of reservation. You can bring your own cart but must show proof of insurance. I believe operators minimum age is 16.

We will have a Rally meeting tent to provide shade and refuge from the unlikely possibility of liquid sunshine J. This area will be for registration, event info, casual gathering for morning coffee etc, presentations, group meals, celebrations, socials or just hanging out.
We’re working on an educational session to help us all be ready to face those challenges that pop up along our travels.
Looking at having a BBQ Saturday afternoon with a ‘dessert pot luck’. That a little better Lee?
                  J Raffle will be after.
An ice cream social one night sounds good too!
Will have the fire pit(s) going each evening for all to enjoy.
We’ll see what else may come together…
There will be some events going on in the campground as well. One is, Commonwealth Breweries microbrew event. A bunch of breweries get together and blend their products as a special offering just for this event plus offer their regular fair. If you’re into that it’s supposed to be great. A local RV dealer is also having their rally. Not being a Northwood dealer though, we all have the same basic maintenance needs and similar components. Going to reach out to them and see what we can possibly work together on. The campground usually has some bands playing as well.

There will be plenty of free time to explore the area. Within a few minutes to no more than an hour’s drive, the area is filled with history, museums of all types, amusement parks, sightseeing, shopping, dining, the beach 5 minutes away with private parking a block off the beach, Military base tours and so much more. Something to suit every interest. Stay tuned for more opportunity info as we work with the local tourism bureau’s 2020 line up.

There will be a $25 per person Rally registration fee (maximum of 3 fees charged per site/rig) This is to offset costs incurred in the production of this event. All proceeds will be totally redirected into the event.
This is payable when you check in at our Rally Tent site 232-233. PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO ATTEND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE so we can do the appropriate planning. You can reply to this post to do so. I have had a few folks indicate they would be coming. If you could let us know again here we will be able to keep track better on this thread.

We will be putting this out there on all of the appropriate social media and NROA site. If you have any other outlet ideas please let us know. Spread the word in your own groups!

If you have any specific questions or wisdom to pass please fill free to PM us or just throw it out there for all.

LETS SHOW THE WEST COAST HOW THE EAST COAST CAN DO IT! THIS IS GOING TO BE FUN!

                  Looking forward to 2020!

                    Hey Bud,
                    Just come on!
I'm sure we can round up some old plywood, a few 2x4s, ratchet straps, duct tape, maybe a 55 gallon drum or two, and some pallets to prop that up enough to get you through!

                            Lee,
the fee is a projection of what it will cost to cover the expenses of the rally production. It will cover administrative materials, tent, BBQ dinner, educational materials costs, etc. There are a lot of other things we are working on that will enhance the experience and attract other participants which will in-turn enhance the experience. There will be good value for your investment. Once we get down to the date, potential attendance and anticipated expenses are clearer, it may prove out that the registration fee could be less. We'll see.
Just a tidbit, the west coast rally registration fee is $35.
Hope to see you and all there to enjoy!
                            Safe travels till then!
