  • Pic of MorRyde pin box please

    On another site, a member was discussing that on his new Arctic Fox 27-5, he couldn't raise the pinbox due to that the pinbox would hit the underside of the cap before engaging the upper holes in the pinbox. I think many on this forum have been successful in raising the pinbox so if you if can shoot a pic or have comments would be great. The pic he shows has 2" from the pinbox to the cap but the bolt hole spacing to the upper holes is 2.5".

    He is currently pulling with a Ram and is 2.5" high in the nose with 9 inches of clearance to the bed rails.

    BTW, my new rig is built and off the production but is waiting for some parts. I called the factory and I am told that there is a shortage of RV parts though out the industry. Maybe another couple of weeks.

    Ours is at the storage lot so canít get a till I pick it up tomorrow. I had our raised to the top setting without any issues. I also have another setting I could lower the hitch but at this point it rides level. Two checks on being level are using a 6í framing level on the frame and the auto level indicator that shows the center green light each and every time we are hooked up. Our truck is an 05 Silverado so lower bed rails and no lifts, as it is now there is 9Ē of clearance.

      This picture is of our 2016 27-5L. The camera is resting on the underside of the cap looking directly at the connection point.
      I used the top bolt hole to run my E Stop wire through so that part is not standard.
      I did not need to adjust the pin box for my truck but I do run 17.5" tires and the MORryde SRE4000 that raise the back about an inch.

          The photo is a little deceiving. If you find you need to raise the pin box, getting the front bolt through might be tight but the fiberglass is a little flexible. The contact point for the pinbox is the front side of the cap. It could be trimmed if needed just as it had been trimed for assembly. That is worst case scenario. The pin box slides up inside the frame and slopes down at an angle. (I am speaking of something I have not done.)

            yep, thats the condition. A few variables along the way to go with it. Hitch height setting, bed rail clearance and the squat of the tow vehicle..

              I have my pin box in the top location, it's 2016, same as Fox will Travel. I had no issue moving it up and putting the bolts in, things get a little tight torquing the top bolts, but it's very doable.

                  now, that is right up right. must be plenty of flex in that part of the fiberglass

                    Mine just touches the fiberglass. In two years haven't noticed any problems.

                    The last picture shows where I cut away part of the pinbox mount to clear my
                    tonneau cover's tracks. They make the rail to rail clearance about 3" narrower.
                    When making sharp turns there was contact..

                      Im kind of amazed that with the flex in the supports that weld to the wings and the pinbox flex itself, is that your fiberglass has not cracked. Thats cool

                        Here are photos of ours. I had it raised to the highest holes about 3 years ago and even though the front cap is very close it doesnít show any Iíll effects of how close it rides to the pinbox.

                          Chip, I cannot thank you enough. Why I posted in that other site I'll never know. This thread is all I need.

                          For the other's reading this, I posted on the other site asking if I was stuck with the pin box in the lower position or what. I only wanted to lower the Fox by 2 1/2". I received ideas of raising the suspension on the Fox, lowering the truck, all sorts of ideas that had nothing to do with lowering the front of the Fox. Wood Chip has been extremely helpful.
