  • What size Axle on the 32-5m

    I assume they are 7000 lb axles but couldn't find on line? Thanks for the answer

    Well, I think I determined 6800 lb axles. Man, that sure cuts it close on capacity

      Just remember apx 20% of the trailer weight is on the pin and rear truck axle when hooked up and towing. On our 27-5L our gross weight for the unit is about 13,400, NW installs 6000# axles, loaded pretty well we are about 10,500# hooked up.

        Yep, On the 32-5m the GVW is 16000 lbs with an approx loaded pin weight of 3500 so I figure 12,500 on the axles, That is just closer to capacity than my current rig is all.

          I agree the numbers you mention seem pretty close. It would be good to know from NW standpoint why. It might be worth talking to your dealer about and to see if you could spec heavier axles.

            I confirmed with factory that indeed they are 7000lb axles and NOT 6800 axles

                  Bummer, but I bet if you upgrade to heavier axles someday you will easily be able to sell your old ones.
