  • 27-5L optional chair

we just picked up our 2019 27-5L from the dealer and got it home and are now thinking that it would be great to get a small chair/recliner for the 27-5L, because in the brochure there is a diagram that states an optional chair is available. As we were looking over the trailer we noticed that the main slide actually goes over where the optional chair would be. So we are wondering if anyone bought a chair for the space by the wall and where do you keep it and secure it when the slide is closed and you are travelling. Greatly appreciate your feed back.

Our Fox was one on the lot so came with the rocker recliner. The chair is a bittersweet object as for us itís used on a regular basis, but is something that has to be dealt with by moving it when setting up or getting ready to tow. We have grandkids camp with us sometimes so is needed. Most the time Judie uses it as it fits her better than the reclining sofa.

When getting ready to tow we slide it over in front of the stove and drawers next to the stove. In that spot it doesnít allow the drawers to slide open.

When setting up to camp we move it over to near the edge of the dinette and sofa. Itís never made sense to us to have it near the mirror on the wall, in front of the reclining sofa and in the area we use it the sofa and rocker recliner have decent views of the tv.

The bitter sweet part is its always in the way, when camped it something we always walk around, when the slide is in while we can open the fridge and get things the kitchen is completely blocked. We always look at the pantry door to make sure it hasnít popped open in transit (a school of hard knocks procedure) so will move the slide open about 4-5Ē to get past the chair.

We have the optional chair also. We removed it for our Alaska trip and decided to not put it back in. If we need more chairs we will use a folding chair. Makes everything easier.

I had a chair in my 2001 29V. It was much smaller than the ones currently offered. When traveling it lived upside down on the sofa and was held in place by strong rubber straps that went over the sofa and were attached to the spring infrastructure under the sofa.

I don't think I would like dealing with a larger chair. Maybe you could find a smaller chair and carry it like I did?

Our 2011 27-5L had a swivel/rocker chair and a jacknife sofa, The chair just flipped upside down on the sofa and stayed there due to the bungee cord running down behind the sofa. Enjoyed it so much we got 2 recliners instead of the sofa in our 2019.
