  • Reserve National Parks in Canada in January

Just a heads up that 2017 is Canada's 150th birthday! To promote tourism, admission to all Parks Canada NP is free in 2017! If you bought an annual pass in 2016, the free 2017 is already added onto its expiry date.

Reservations for some BC NPs open as early as Jan. 3. For most of the mountain parks in BC and AB, reservations open Jan. 10, 11, or 12. There is no single common reservation date and there is no reservation window. Campsites are reservable for any date in the camping season starting in Jan.

Some popular parks like Jasper, are reservable for the entire season right up to Oct. 8. Others, like Waterton, are reservable up to Sep. 10, but the campground is open until Oct. 10.

Looks like US visitors will still have a very favorable $ exchange rate in 2017.

Parks Canada's Free Pass website can't keep up with demand. There's no rush to get this pass, as you don't need it to make cpg reservations--they're not free. Try again in a week or two after initial demand dies down.
