  • Arizona Snowbirds Phoenix Surprise

We escaped Minnesota just in time and towed down to the Valley of the Sun until the end of April. Turns out it was a good move as the upper Midwest hit single digits and snow. We are camped out in Happy Trails in Surprise Arizona and are wondering if we have any other NROA folks around here. We have over 230 nights in Fiona to date and will be well over 400 nights when we get back to Minnesota.

Here's our beautiful campsite with the patio bistro we hung the lights around:

Yes you did, escape in time. SE Iowa snow and 0 with blowing snow. Drifts across the country roads. We don’t get to head out until the middle of January. We will be a week at Lost Dutchmen state park at the end of January.

Two years ago we didn't head south until the first week of January. I was getting ready to go in 15 below zero and I still remember the joy of trying to keep the propane flowing and airing up and torqueing up all the wheels. We didn't have water for four days as we never got a temp above 32 degrees. On our first stop there were no bathrooms so we visited Burger King a lot, and we discovered that if you freeze a Tempurpedic topper then it is like concrete for two days even running the furnace.

If you get over to the west end of the valley (Surprise), give a shout and maybe we could have lunch and swap some frostbite stories. We have a nice bistro we like that has a patio where our dog is welcome too.

We will try and make sure that happens. I hope it isn’t as cold as when we left last year and a little less snow in Arizona would be great. You can probably one up us on frostbite stories living in Minnesota.
