  • LASSEN VOLCANIC National Park: Mud's Travel Blog

We were amazed that this area is still very active with steam vents and boiling mud pots. We have updated the travel blog with all the details: Just click on the link below.

We have spent time at Crater Lake National Park OR and are currently near La Pine OR. Our next stops are Carson WA and La Grande OR (Rally time!). Then we’ll spend the rest of the summer in central Idaho.

      Great Photos as usual.

If you have the time while near LaPine, check out the Paulina Lake and East Lake area if you can get into it. Also, the Obsidian Flow on the way to Paulina Lake

Hi Rolland & Judie! Paulina Lake and East Lake had been high on the "must see" list. This area is still at nearly 140% snow pack. We've been able to bike the Cascades Lake Highway & have the thing to ourselves. They've plowed but have not opened it. There's probably 4 feet of snow near Elk Lake. Wow! So we would probably not be able to get up to Paulina or East Lake till well into the end of June. But we're getting out except on days it snows! Happy travels to you on your big upcoming trip!

I'm not surprised it's packed high with snow seeing a friends photos of the snow they had in LaPine this year. As Judie and I always say, we have to leave something to come back and explorer.

Rolland & Judie! We made it into East Lake. Had a great day kayak fishing! Resort is still digging out 4-5 feet of snow. They want to open this weekend. Obsidian flow was covered. Details will be in next blog in about 2 weeks.

you both earned extra points for effort with all the snow we got this year. I'll have to look back on some photos from a couple years ago and send you one of the Obsidian Flow. It's pretty impressive.
